2.5.4.5. Replacement of brake fluid

GENERAL INFORMATION

Only at cars without system of regulation of slipping of driving wheels of rather basic surface (ASR).

Necessary special tool:

 – a round key for an otvorachivaniye of bolts of the exhaust device;
 – transparent plastic hose.

Necessary high-wear parts:

 – about 0,5 l of brake fluid of the DOT 4 specification.

Brake fluid through a time of brake hoses, and also through an air vent of a tank absorbs moisture from air. Because of it eventually operation temperature of boiling of brake fluid decreases. At strong loading of brakes it can lead to formation of vials of steam in pipelines of the brake drive because of what functioning of system of braking is strongly broken.

Irrespective of run size replace brake fluid, whenever possible, in the spring, every two years. At numerous trips to mountainous areas replace brake fluid through shorter periods.

At the treatment of brake fluid follow rules of precaution.

Note a felt strip the level of brake fluid in a tank. After replacement of brake fluid restore its initial level again. Thanks to it the modulation of a tank of the hydraulic brake drive when replacing frictional overlays of brake shoes is prevented.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. By means of the sucking-away bottle pump out from a tank of the hydraulic brake drive brake fluid to level about 10 mm.
Prevention

Do not empty completely a tank that air did not get to the brake system.


2. Fill with new brake fluid a tank to the mark "max".
3. Pull on the right back support of a disk brake a pure hose over the valve of a sapun, substitute a suitable vessel.
4. Charge to the assistant to squeeze out several times a brake pedal until counter-pressure is created. Charge to squeeze out a brake pedal, at the same time open the valve of a sapun and leave to follow brake fluid through a transparent hose. Close the valve of a sapun if the pedal adjoins the basis of the bearing body, remove a leg from a pedal. Repeat this operation (about 10 times) on each valve of a sapun until already new brake fluid begins to act. New brake fluid can be determined by lighter coloring.
5. Close the valve of a sapun, fill a tank with new brake fluid.
6. Also pump out old brake fluid from other supports of disk brakes.
Prevention

Anyway the lowered brake fluid has to be transparent and not contain bubbles.

Hand over old brake fluid as special waste.
